What’s New in Tech-Freedom for Visually Impaired Version 4.1.8
We’re excited to announce the release of Tech-Freedom for Visually Impaired version 4.1.8! Our mission has always been to empower the visually impaired community with innovative, easy-to-use, and ad-free tools. With this latest version, we’re introducing several highly anticipated features designed to make the experience even smoother and more intuitive. Here’s what’s new:
1. Introducing Short Description Mode and HD Image Capture in Scene Description
We’ve enhanced our Scene Description feature with two powerful additions:
- Short Description Mode: This new mode provides concise image descriptions in 50 to 75 words, perfect for quick and clear image interpretations. Now, you can switch between Short and Detailed modes depending on your needs.
- HD Image Capture: For clearer, more precise descriptions, we’ve introduced the ability to capture HD images. This improves the quality of image analysis and offers deeper insights in our detailed descriptions.
How to customize these settings:
Go to Settings > Scene Description and choose your preferred mode or enable HD image capture. By default, the description mode is set to Detailed, and HD image capture is off.
2. Add Feature Shortcuts to Your Home Screen
Responding to popular demand, we’ve added the option to create shortcuts for app features directly on your home screen. Whether it’s a tool you use daily or a quick-access feature, it’s now just a tap away!
Steps to add shortcuts:
- Select the feature you’d like to add.
- Use one of two methods:
- Utilize TalkBack actions to choose “Add to Home Screen.”
- Long press the feature and select “Add a shortcut to the Home Screen.”
The first time you use this feature, you’ll need to grant permission, and the shortcut will be ready for quick access.
3. Quick Access Shortcuts for the 4 Most-Used Features
To make navigation faster, we’ve added shortcuts to the 4 most-used features directly to the app’s shortcut panel. These include:
- Cash Reader
- Document Reader
- Image Reader
- Scene Description
We’re working on making these shortcuts customizable in future updates, so stay tuned!
4. 49 New Voices in Document Reader
Our Document Reader just got a major upgrade with 49 new voices provided by ElevenLabs. These voices deliver a more natural, human-like audio experience, making it easier and more pleasant to listen to your documents.
How to switch voices:
Go to Settings > General > Voice, and select your preferred voice from the list of 49 options.
5. Support for Table of Contents in PDFs
Navigating documents just got simpler! We’ve added Table of Contents support to the Document Reader, allowing users to easily jump to different sections of a document. This feature currently supports PDFs, but we’re planning to expand it to other formats like DOCX and EPUB in future versions.
With version 4.1.8, Tech-Freedom continues to evolve, making it easier than ever for visually impaired users to navigate their daily tasks with independence and confidence. We hope these updates improve your experience, and as always, we appreciate your feedback!
Thank you for choosing Tech-Freedom!
